We recently went to the Turkish restaurant on Thalatheen St. All the reviews we had seen of the place stated that it’s really good. Our experience was very different.
The place was dumpy, the chairs rickety, the curtains for the family cubicles were dirty and dusty, the cutlery was not clean.
They had run out of lamb so no lamb doner (shawarma). The moussaka was tasteless and the chicken alexander kebab left a lot to be desired. The only thing that was ok was the humus (and that is almost impossible to mess up in this part of the world) and the fresh bread with sesame on top.
All in all, it was not worth the trip. We were starving when we got there but the food was so un-tasty that lots of everything was left. I am going to create new dishes with the leftovers- the moussaka eggplant will get reconstituted into eggplant lasagne. The chicken will be used for filling for patties. The bread will be dried/baked into pita chips.
P.S. People think we should give it a second chance. if we do I’ll add a second review of the same place.
